BULLYING

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, the majority of bullying still takes place in schools; 1 in 3 students say they have been bullied at school. Daily, there are many kids who skip school because of bullying.

We have been too many schools and asked many young people the biggest problem facing them… and the winner is always bullying. Although, this is not just an issue for students, as many of us know people sure like to use social media as a weapon. We could call some of the things we see people say to each other on social media “bullying.” Many bullies treat others poorly because of their own lack of self-esteem. They doubt their own value. Being a voice of kindness to help others know they matter and standing up for the mistreated is a great way to fight bullying. Think of ways your WAVE can put God's love to work to tackle this issue.

Stories

Jennifer - “I am writing a book! I plan to have it in schools!”

Emma - “I plan on spreading kindness to those who need it most but can't show it. I am going to put a piece of candy on a post it and say some encouraging words on it and then tape it to the lockers. I am also going to speak at a youth group at my school about Rachael's story and encourage them to walk with Jesus like she did, but in our own way.”

Kari - “I run an anti-bullying and positive thinking club at my school called Speak Out and Strengthen. I am hoping to spread it to other schools to further make a difference in the fight against bullying.”
