This is a major problem that kind of goes unnoticed. For example, according to the UN, since the outbreak of the civil war in March 2011 an estimated 11 million Syrians have fled their homes seeking safety. Children account for roughly half of that number. Syrian children have been forced to leave school. The UN estimates between 2 million and 3 million Syrian children are not currently attending school.
Sadly, the war reversed 10 years of progress in education for Syrian children. Many of us will never have to deal with losing our homes and fleeing our nations, but we should have empathy for our peers facing this reality in the world. What can your WAVE do to help with the global refugee issue?
